FAQ - When appending to a list, what gets replicated to the replica nodes?
Detail
When appending to a CDT (list or map) when replication factor is greater than 1, what gets replicated to the node(s) owning replica copy(ies)? Is it just the appended elements or is the whole record sent?
Answer
As of the writing of this article, the whole record is always replicated to the replica nodes. This is not configurable.
Note
If compression
is enabled, the compressed version of the record will be sent for the replication, which could be very advantageous for large CDT records.
