Why does Aerospike recommend Amazon Linux.

Aerospike generally recommends using Amazon Linux on EC2. For their High IO instances that use SSD, this is required.

On Amazon, Aerospike recommends Amazon Linux because of the higher integration between the hypervisor (host OS) and the guest OS. In particular, we see lower latency of network and storage interrupts, which must pass through the hypervisor and into the guest. A standard Ubuntu installation may not be using the optimized drivers for the Xen versions that Amazon runs as a host. We have observed higher performance and lower latency.
